Create Your Own Commandments

Create Your Own Commandments offers the chance to pause and think about your values, and to express them in a way that feels personally meaningful. We deliberately used the language of “commandments” here because we think there’s something powerful (and subversively funny) about borrowing “Thou Shalt” or “Thou Shalt Not” language and using it to express the power and authority of your values and commitments – not something you are supposed to think, say, or do, but what you choose. Whether we give them the form of commandments, commitments, promises, offerings, or something else entirely, we can create, return to, and evolve our own guiding principles.

Create Your Own Commandments can be done online or in-person, individually or with friends/family, as a one-time activity, or as a series of conversations.

You can print your commandments, and we invite you to post your contribution below so others can learn and be inspired. Check out some of the posts that community members have already shared.
